Age 83, of Hendersonville, TN was relieved of her earthly sufferings and passed onto the Lord on August 14, 2016.
Lorene was a dedicated homemaker who always put her family's needs before her own desires. She will be certainly be missed yet remembered forever. The hearty-good-old southern meals she would make in the kitchen were one of her hallmarks. Her example of strength during her battle with breast cancer was an inspiration to all of us. Lorene was a strong woman, and her family recalls, "nobody told her no." Ultimately, her strength originated from her relationship with her Lord and Savior.
A long-time member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, she regularly attended services and experienced the power of prayer. Her priorities were always in order; God, first; family, second; and then all else. She was a "sweet soul" who would give the shirt off her back to help those in need, but you would never dream of crossing her. She was the perfect mix of "sweet and sassy." Lorene was a "tough old bird!" Even in the midst of her dementia, she would always smile at those who came to visit her. Lorene's legacy as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose smile greeted you with each "hello" will live on.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Clinton; sons, Kenneth Clinton, Tiny Clinton; and her loving husband, Wesley Spann. Lorene leaves behind her daughters, Connie Elliott, Brenda (Thomas) Duke; sons, Jerry, Larry, and Eddie Clinton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 16 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, August 17 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. A Celebration of Lorene's Life will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. All will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 E.
