Lonnie J. Newton, III of Hendersonville, TN passed away Sunday, July 1 2018 in Hendersonville. Lonnie was born September 18, 1949 in Raleigh, NC to the late Lonnie J. and Ruby (Conner) Newton, Jr. Lonnie worked in the Sumner County School District for over 33 years, retiring as Principal from Knox Doss Middle School in 2002. His family has been long time members of the Indian Lake Peninsula Church where Lonnie served as a deacon. In his spare time, he was passionate about scuba diving, traveling all throughout the world diving in clear water with his son. Lonnie was a great man, a loyal and dedicated friend and will be missed by all who knew him. On August 21, 1971 Lonnie was united in marriage to his loving and faithful wife of nearly 47 years, Allene (Howard) Newton, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Carter (Michele) Newton and a daughter, Morgan Newton; brother, Lawson (Lisa) Newton; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5 from 2-6pm at the Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St; Hendersonville, TN 37075) where a celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 6th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Indian Lake Peninsula Church, NEXT program.
