Linda Porter

Linda Porter, age 53, passed away on July 9, 2023. Linda was born to Louis and Dorothy Basham in Nashville, Tennessee on June 22, 1970.

Linda is a wonderful woman whose strength and compassion for others overflowed. Her pride and joy are her two boys, Chuck and Allen, to whom she was a wonderful mother. Her husband Charles was the love of her life and she missed him terribly when he passed. During the time when Charles struggled with addiction, Linda stood by his side until he became sober again. Linda adored and cherished her parents, especially her mother. She is known as “aunt ninna” to her nieces Alicia and Leslie, whom she loved dearly, and also to their children. Linda had one grandson, Bryson, who was the apple of her eye. She was diligent about keeping up with his game schedule as much as she could because she loved spending time with him. When Linda got sick, she didn’t want anyone to worry and did her best to downplay her cancer. Her passing was sudden and unexpected, but it’s important to remember that Linda wanted to spare her loved one’s pain and worry as much as possible. Despite herself, she loved deeply.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, Louis Basham; husband, Charles Porter II; sister, Kathy Basham; and grandparents, Raymond and Elizabeth Gentry, and Bryant and Pearl Basham.

Linda is survived by her sons, Charles Porter III (Courtney) and Allen Porter; mother, Dorothy Basham; brother, Louis Basham, Jr. (Karen Furgerson); grandson, Bryson Porter; nieces, Alicia, Leslie, Stormie, Haiven, and Rorry; newphew, Blaze; special cousins, Penny, Pam, Susie, Gary, Don,  and Wayne; father-in-law, Paul Porter; sister-in-law, Louis Porter; and several others.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
