Lee DePue - Age 43 of Hendersonville passed away January 24, 2015 surrounded by his family after a 16-month valiant battle with brain cancer. Upon diagnosis, Lee told everyone that he would "fight until the end." He was courageous and strong, never complaining about the treatments, and he fought until God called him home. Lee was a family man; in fact, most people would say that his wife, Mashae, his son, Will, and his sweet dog, Lucy were the most important things in his life. An ideal day for Lee was spending time with his family, especially on the lake fishing. Lee was a true outdoorsman. On a beautiful day, you might find Lee hunting for artifacts with his friends. He loved being outside with Will fishing, canoeing, and camping. His love for the outdoors prompted his involvement with his son in the cub scouts. As the proud Cub Master and former Den Leader for Cub Pack 1322, Lee considered the scouts to be family. He loved people, had a desire to help those around him, and would do anything for you. Ironically, Lee was shy, yet he never met a stranger. He had a wonderful, easy going personality, and the greatest laugh that no one could ever forget.
Lee spent his life as an incredible husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and artist. Lee loved painting, drawing, and working with his hands. He has left his legacy in his art work and in the hearts of so many people he touched. He was strong, loving, and passionate with a kind heart. Lee wasn't afraid to tell you exactly where he stood with his beliefs and faith. Throughout his journey with brain cancer, Lee's trust in God grew, and he was faithful in his love for his Heavenly Father. In his own words, Lee said, "I owe it all to God and my Savior Jesus Christ...I am more grateful than anyone could ever know." Lee became a witness, and also wrote, "Turn to God. Give those burdens to Him. He's already right there waiting for you. All you have to do is ask."
Survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mashae DePue, adoring son, Will DePue, mother, Brenda DePue; father, Mr. & Mrs. Roy Lee DePue, Sr.; sisters, Kimberly DePue & Kristina DePue; many aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends.
A Life Celebration will be held 11am Wednesday at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Chesser Officiating. Burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
