MILLER, Kay Shaw- Brentwood, passed away peacefully March 15, 2013 at her home after an extended illness. Born in 1938 in Macon, GA to Jack and Ethel Shaw. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her children, Lawton Mary Frank Miller of Franklin, Meredith Tom Hemby of Atlanta and Jennifer Brian Jones of Brentwood. She was a devoted, fun loving grandmother to Kate, Will and Ben Hemby, Alex, Caroline and Lawton Miller, and Benton, Catherine and Matthew Jones. She also has two sisters, Mrs. Connie Ballard of Sumter, SC and Mrs. Jackie Raburn of Warner Robins, GA. Mrs. Miller grew up in Macon, attended David Lipscomb College and returned to Macon where she taught school for over 30 years. She relocated to the Brentwood area in 2004 where she was a member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. She was always involved in her children's school activities and very active in her church both in Macon and Nashville. Over the years, she was a beloved school teacher and taught hundreds of children but her greatest teaching lesson was the example of patience and hope. She taught all who knew her as she battled seemingly insurmountable health obstacles with grace and charm and humor and an unwavering faith. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013, 1-3 pm followed by a celebration of her life at 3pm at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, 5120 Franklin Pike, Nashville. HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME.
