Hendersonville

Katherine Louise (Huffines) Ashworth

Born October 27, 1935 in Bagdad, Tennessee

Went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2024

Katie graduated from Jackson County High School and while there she played varsity basketball, was a member of the cheerleading squad and served as the Future Farmers of America Queen. After graduation, she moved to Nashville and lived with her older sister, Ruth, and her family. During this time, she began her career in banking. After a blind date and several proposals, Katie married Elbert Ashworth in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Katie loved being with her family, and especially loved her granddaughters and great-granddaughter. A long-time member of Hendersonville Church of Christ, she made many precious friends who she loved to spend time with. Katie loved the Tennessee Vols and would avidly watch baseball, basketball and football games. She loved to play bridge and many other card games and at various times belonged to women's and coed bridge clubs and a bunco group. Annual trips to Gatlinburg in the fall with their friends was a highlight of Katie and Elbert's year.

Katie was known for her kind heart and giving nature. She relished being involved with ministries in her church and was active in her One Heart study group.

Preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Ashworth, parents Chester and Zelma Huffines, and siblings Annie Clark, James Huffines, Mary Nell Borum, Ruth Bellar, Charles (Charlie) Huffines, Jo Helen Amato, Virginia Brown, and Bruce Huffines. She is survived by daughters Lisa Craig and Kristi (Chris) McGimsey, granddaughters Chelsea Craig, Paige (Garrett) DeLozier, Anna Kate McGimsey, Ava McGimsey, and great-granddaughter Bryn DeLozier.
