Joyce Claiborne

Joyce J. Claiborne, age 86, of Gallatin passed away on December 13, 2024. Joyce was born on January 25, 1938 to the late Reed and Mary Gladys Jarvis in Albany, Kentucky. 

Joyce graduated from Clinton County High School.

Joyce has been a member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church since 1967 and enjoyed being a part of Barbara Ward’s Sunday School Class. 

Joyce really enjoyed sports, specifically cheering on her Kentucky Wildcats basketball teams!

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Gene Steenbergen; her second husband, Genie Ray Claiborne; and her siblings, Mary Shelley, Genevieve Cross, Hugh Jarvis, Gene Jarvis, and Glenn Jarvis.

Joyce is survived by her children, Stephanie Finch (Tim), Cindy Bean (David), Leslie Hodges (John), Mike Claiborne (Sandra), Jeff Claiborne (Marie); her grandchildren, Casey Dycus (Grady), Courtney Smith (Trevis), Bryan Bean (Amy), Mandy Locke (Jason), Wade Hodges (Emily), Wes Hodges, Matt Claiborne (Candice), Sarah Harrell (Jamie), Hannah Claiborne, Gabriel Claiborne, Rebecca Huddleston (Corey); and numerous great grandchildren, other family members and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St. Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). The funeral service will be held following visitation in the chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home, starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. 

Pallbearers will be Bryan Bean, Matt Claiborne, Wade Hodges, Wes Hodges, Cohen Moore, and Stockton Smith.
