Mr. Joseph Marvin (Joe) Ellison age 70, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019.

Joe was born in Lafollette, TN, to the late Newt and Lola Ellison and attended public schools in Campbell and Claiborne counties as well as University of Tennessee and Aviation Academy of North Carolina. After serving in the United States Coast Guard, Joe was employed in sales of Mack and Kenworth trucks. In 1981 Joe joined Eaton Corporation in Sales and Marketing for 27 years and retired in 2008. Over the course of their marriage, Dale and Joe had a total of 11 relocations in several states and were fortunate to have enjoyed them all in addition to traveling all 50 states along with much of the world from Europe to Australia. He served as treasurer for the Friends of the Library and was a board member with Vol State Keep Educating Yourself Program. He was a member of the Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club. Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fly fishing, golfing, and was an avid reader. He was a member of the Powell Valley Masonic Lodge #488 F. & A.M. for forty-five years and a Shriner with Al-Menah Shrine Temple in Nashville. Joe will be remembered for his zest for life and sense of humor, but above all the deep and lasting friendships he built while traveling the country.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Dale Greene Ellison in addition to his sister, Hazel Claiborne. Also, surviving is a niece, Mona Somers of North Carolina and nephews, Greg Hodges of Rutledge, Martin Claiborne of Chattanooga, and Dr. Ed Claiborne of Greeneville.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 2:00 P.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
