Born and raised in Hendersonville, TN, Jonathan lived life to the fullest for twenty years until he was called home to be reunited with his parents in the company of the Lord on April 22, 2016.
For the first five years of his life, Jonathan was routinely rocked to sleep in his mother's arms. In fact, this was the only way he knew to calm himself down in the evenings. If, for some reason, his mother was not home he would stay awake until her gentle arms cradled and rocked him to sleep.
Jonathan loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors. Christmas was his favorite holiday because all of his family would gather, he got to open presents, and he even had his own decorated tree. Jonathan enjoyed getting out of the house and playing at Saundersville Park or simply strolling around the block in his neighborhood. Visiting the Nashville Zoo and seeing all the animals was another thing that brought him great joy. He also enjoyed watching movies which include the Disney classics, "Aladdin" being his favorite, and more recently, he got into the Star Wars films with "Episode IV" being his favorite. He was an avid reader and was particularly fond of learning about history and science fiction. Jonathan was normally fed by feeding tube, but he would occasionally enjoy buttercream icing or sweet tea to appease his sweet tooth.
Jonathan attended Station Camp High School and was a member of the graduating class of 2015. He looked forward to each school day when he would have the opportunity to interact with his teachers, classmates, friends, and peer buddies. Being around people uplifted his spirit. One of the major highlights from Jonathan's high school career was his attendance at the Senior Prom. With the assistance of his teachers and family, he asked his friend and peer buddy, Samantha, to be his date for the evening. Upon being asked, she graciously accepted. The two enjoyed an evening filled with fun and fellowship with their classmates and forged many precious memories.
He will be remembered as a happy young man with a gentle and joyful spirit, which manifested love to everyone he encountered. His intelligence and sense of humor often put smiles on the faces of those around him. Jonathan was a brave fighter who was "tough as nails," and he never let his disability hinder him from experiencing life. In fact, he was never known to complain and he epitomized the virtue of patience, giving everyone an example to live by. Leading by example, Jonathan gave the precious gift of life through organ donation and his gift will have a tremendous impact on countless lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Seagroves and Ladonna Ellis. Jonathan leaves behind his brothers, Brian Ellis and Kevin Seagraves; sisters, Rachel (Trey) Ward, Kori Ellis, Kristee (Jeffrey) Adcock, and Paula (Darian) Carroll; aunts and uncles, Joyce (Mike) Salter, Johnny Martin, Sheila McGhee, and Lisa (Shannan) Napier; grandmother, Mildred Haskins; his nurses who were like second mothers, Jacqueline Baker, Deborah Smith, and Elaine Jay; several cousins; and many treasured friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jonathan's honor to the Best Buddies Program of Station Camp High School. Please make checks payable to SCHS and note the Best Buddies Program on the memo line. All donations should be mailed to SCHS, 1040 Bison Trail, Gallatin, TN 37066.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 26 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with a Life Celebration to follow at noon. All will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Hendersonville Memory Gardens immediately following service.
