Jonathan Herr Ogden, age 78, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on May 5, 2016. Jonathan is preceded in death by his parents, Dunbar and Dorothy (Coblentz) Ogden, brother, David Ogden.
Jonathan is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Wright), of 54 years, children; Daniel Ogden, Abigail Brown (Ryan), Samuel Ogden (Jenny), grandchildren; Blake Brown, Kaleb Brown, Noah Brown, Julia Ogden and Sophia Ogden. Jonathan is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Jonathan was born February 8, 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He worked as a printer at the Tennessean. Jonathan enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, photography, taking nature walks and being active at his church, Central Church of Christ, and was a recent member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. He enjoyed a good roast with Idaho potatoes and he drank two gallons a week of whole milk on ice. Jonathan was a master storyteller. He would tell his children a story every night before bed, and sometimes, against his wife's wishes, would tell them a scary story. Every morning he would say to his wife Dorothy, "Good morning, I love you." Jonathan and Dorothy would study the Bible every night together. Jonathan was a loving and patient husband, father and grandfather who was kind, joyful, and gentle, and had a strong faith. Sharing God's word and his family were very important to Jonathan.
