Johnny K. Elgin of Hendersonville, TN passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Gallatin, TN. Johnny was born October 30, 1933 in Moravia, TX, son of the late James and Helen (Hrncir) Krause. Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his service, he chased after his love of music and found a long and successful career as a musician, writer and producer. Johnny was a true family man in every sense of the word; he loved well and was well loved. In his spare time, he had a passion for golf and reading. He was also a man of faith and had a strong love for God, worshiping for over 35 years at the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. On June 4, 1955 Johnny was united in marriage to his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Kay (Martin) Elgin, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Rhonda (Perry) Bolin, Mark Elgin, Teena (Nick) Thompson, Lisa (Scott) Peters, Rochelle (Tim) Hayes and Sandi (Josh) Phelps; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; sisters, Gladys Ollie, Gracie Isbell, Eydie Ramirez and Margaret Golden. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin, Johnny and Willie Krause; sister, Helen Youngblood. A private family burial will take place at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends for a memorial service on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, 2PM at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, where a time of visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or Boys Town.
