John R. Williams, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2018 in Gallatin, TN. John was born December 30, 1945 in Gallatin, TN to the late John R. Williams, Sr. and Sallie Belle (Eden) Williams. John proudly served in the United States Army and went on to retire from the railroad as a Conductor for over 33 years. John lived to serve others and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and grilling for his family and friends, including what became his famous Papa John's Biscuits, Gravy and Sausage. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Titans and Vols, as well as watching documentaries including the Discovery Channel, History Channel and National Geographic, and also enjoyed gardening and fishing in his younger years. Above all else, John will be forever remembered as an amazing family man, devoted friend and faithful husband. Surviving are his loving wife of over 26 years, Helen Williams; 2 children, Randy (Sari) Lawrence and Pam (Bill) Grant; grandchildren, Jessica Beth, Cassie, James, Ryan, Taylor, Candace, Hayley, Kendall and Jordan; 8 great grandchildren and an ever-growing family; sister, Carolyn (Wayne) Denny. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 1 sister. Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, March 6 from 5-8pm at the Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St; Hendersonville, TN 37075) and again on Wednesday, March 7th from 10-11am, where funeral services will follow at 11am. Interment immediately following, Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
