John E. "Johnny" Smith, age 62, of Madison, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Preceded in death by his father, Donavon Clay Smith and grandson, Macklin Finney.

Johnny is survived by his mother, Joyce McCrary, step-mother, Helen Smith, daughters; Carri (James) Finney and Heather (Brandon) Kelley, sister, Donna (Joe) McCrary, grandchildren; Peyton Finney, Jasper Finney, Jackson Finney, Donavon Presley and Hannah Presley, nephew; Chris (Jo) McCrary, great-nephew; Ben McCrary, and many other extended family and friends.

Johnny was born on April 1, 1954 in Nashville, TN to Donavon Clay Smith and Joyce E. Moore. He worked in maintenance for the State of Tennessee for 20 years. He played football in high school and was a Tennessee Titans fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, especially BBQ, and playing practical jokes on people. He was known as "paw paw" to his grandchildren, who he enjoyed spending much of his time with. Johnny was a loving son, very proud and outspoken man who loved his family and grandchildren.

A Life Celebration for Johnny will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 2:00PM at Hendersonville Funeral Home, officiated by Mr. Robert Fennell. Visitation will be held on Turesday, October 25th from 2:00PM-8:00PM and on Wednesday from 12:00PM-2:00PM. Interment to be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be James Finney, Jimmy Moore, Jr., Jamie Moore, Randy Moore, Jerry Moore, Chris McCrary and Peyton Finney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jasper Finney, Jackson Finney and Donavon Presley.
