John H. Krauss Jr., age 86, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Scott Krauss, son, John David Krauss of Gallatin, daughter, Susan Krauss Crowson (Chris), of Hockley, TX, and daughter, Beverly Krauss Clanton (Trey) of Shelbyville, TN. Proud grandfather of John Philip Crowson (Alison) of Houston, TX, Melissa Corlew Morris (Drew) of Murfreesboro, TN, Amy Crowson Drew (Lawrence) of San Francisco, CA, Robert Ewing Corlew IV of Murfreesboro, TN, John Scott Corlew of Murfreesboro, TN and half-brother Alan Krauss (Janice) of Burlington, Conn.
Mr. Krauss was born in Louisville, KY in 1929 to John H. Krauss and Virginia Bemiss Krauss. He was educated in the Louisville public schools and attended the University of Louisville. Mr. Krauss proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Mr. Krauss was employed by DuBois Chemical Co. of Cincinnati, OH, a division of W.R. Grace Co. He was Executive V.P. of sales when he retired. John's bright smile and charming personality were a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Life celebration for Mr. Krauss will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow the service on Monday at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name can be made to Caris Hospice.
