HOWS, John E. "Pop" - Age 83, of West Nashville. Journeyed from his home peacefully on December 9, 2011 after courageously living with cancer. Born in Nashville May of 1928 to the late Barney and Lucile Hows. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1947. A veteran of the Army serving in the Korean War. He was a Union Bricklayer for more than 40 years and faithful member of Barth Vernon United Methodist Church. He firmly believed in God, country and family. Preceded in death by his brother William T. Hows and his wife of over 50 years Marian C. Hows. Pop leaves behind a void in the hearts of his devoted son John Mark Hows, and daughter-in-law Julie Hows. The twinkle in his eyes for the past 23 years his granddaughters Jenna and Jillian Hows. Along with his loving sister Dorothy Clark, and sister-in-law Ann Hows; a host of nieces, nephews, and church family. His gratitude to Dr. Mark Koury, staff and nurses at The V.A. Medical Center Nashville for their years of care. Visitation Sunday December 11 from 2-8 p.m. Monday 10-11a.m. prior to the service conducted by Rev. Alex Jackson at West Harpeth Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends to serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers Bricklayers Union Local #4 and the West Nashville Breakfast Club. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Barth Vernon U.M.C.
