John Carlton

Mr. John Jeffries "Jeff" Carlton, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018. He was 66.

Mr. Carlton was born in Union County, KY, on August 28, 1951, the son of the late William Bert Carlton and Ann Arnold Carlton. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career in music publishing. Mr. Carlton was a member of the 1997 Leadership Music Class, received the 2016 President's Award from Nashville Songwriters Association International, and was recently the recipient of the inaugural Nashville Independent Spirit Award from the Association of Independent Music Publishers. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid sports fan and a former President of the Hendersonville High School Quarterback Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Carlton was preceded in death by his brother, William Rash. Survivors include his wife, Christine Schaner Carlton; three sons, Will, John, and Robert (Kelsey) Carlton; a daughter, Jaimee Dillon; three grandchildren, Kennedy Payne, Braelyn Dillon, and Tatum Carlton; and a brother, Robert (Allene) Rash.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on September 7, 2018 at the BMI Nashville Headquarters, 10 Music Square East.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Nashville Songwriters Association International, 1710 Roy Acuff Place, Nashville, TN 37203.
