August 5, 1936 — October 25, 2024

John Robert Bass, Sr., affectionately known as "Pops," passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on August 5, 1936 to the late Homer Troy Bass and Littie Bass in Bolivar, Tennessee.

Pops was a proud veteran, having served in the Army from 1959 to 1962 as a Specialist 5th Class in the 34th Armed Rifle Battalion of the 50th Infantry Division. His dedication to his country was a reflection of the strong values he carried throughout his life.

John received his education at Bolivar High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College, which set the foundation for a fulfilling career. His interests encompassed a love for fishing, camping, and hunting. He found joy in spending time with his family, capturing memories through photography, and creating lasting moments that his loved ones will forever cherish.

He was a kind and gentle man, who never met a stranger.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patsy Jo Bass; his children, Rhonda Jo Bruce (Wade), John Robert Bass, Jr. (Tammy), and Ronald Jay Bass (Kerri); his siblings, Betty Jane Phillips, Homer Houston Bass (Reita), and James Ellis Bass (Christie). His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Darrian Jefferson (Chris), Delaney Lawson (John), John Robert Bass III, Corey Edward Bass, Owen Riley Bass, and Ellis Keaton Bass, who will remember him not only for his loving nature but for the bonds they shared.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Bass Russell.
