Joe Vigil

JOE GABRIEL VIGIL, age 71 of Hendersonville, Tn. Passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Mr. Vigil was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver Recipient. He served with the 101st Air borne during Viet Nam and was highly decorated. He received 1 Silver Star, 2 Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars. He was a Ranger served with the Special Forces and was a Path Finder. He was also a U.S. Coast Guard Captain. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Vigil; son, Joe Gabriel Carol Vigil, II; grandson, Joe Gabriel Vigil, III; sisters, Lena Urquhart, Lupe Domme and Susan Contreras,; brothers, Anthony Contreras, Robert Contreras and Walter Contreras. His family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23 from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Father Eric Fowlkes officiating. Active pallbearers will include, Fred Wikowsky, Andy Wikowsky, Tom Donovan, Dave Gladden, Mike Self, Ronald Kirksey, Terry Murphy, Mark Nickel, Greg Baldwin and Scott Joslin. Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Viet Nam Veterans of America, Chapter # 240 of Sumner County, P.O. Box 1281, Gallatin, Tn. 370663.
