Jo Ann Benefield of Hendersonville, TN passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Jo Ann was born January 10, 1939 in Ashland City, TN, daughter of the late Parks Lane and Jessie (Bateman) Hagewood. In her spare time, Jo Ann enjoyed quilting and sewing, making matching dresses for her girls as they were growing up. She also enjoyed cooking and made sure no one in her home ever went hungry, including neighborhood kids and anyone else that might stop by. Above all else, she loved and adored her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and will be lovingly remembered as someone you could always count on. On July 27, 1957 Jo Ann was united in marriage to her loving and faithful husband of nearly 61 years, Eddie P. Benefield, who survives. Also surviving are her 3 children, Paula (Dwight) Dabbs, Sheila (Robert Moore, Jr.) Thurman and Sherry Jo Cothron; grandchildren, Stacey Romines, Tyler Dabbs and April McGee; great-grandchildren, Austin Farmer, Joanna Farmer, Breanna McGee, Ragan Farmer, Gracie McGee, Avery Romines, Caden Dabbs, Emery Romines, Kinsley McGee, Avah Romines and Josiah Pitcock (due to arrive Nov, 2018); siblings, Peggy Hagewood, Kay Hull and Tommy Hagewood. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Hamilton. A celebration of Jo Ann's life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 (Hendersonville Funeral Home; 353 E. Main St; Hendersonville, TN 37075) with burial following at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
