Jimmy Lawrence Cassetty, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025. Jim was born in Haydenburg , TN on September 25, 1939 to Robbie Eurelle (Dixie) and Luster S. Cassetty. His early years were spent in Jackson County, residing in North Springs, TN.
Jim graduated from Jackson County High School and Tennessee Tech University. Jim married Patricia Parker of Hartsville, TN in 1961 and soon volunteered to serve and was commissioned as an officer in the US Army in 1964. He excelled as a paratrooper, and leader while stationed primarily in the Panama Canal Zone (Southern Command Headquarters). After his military service, with a job waiting at DuPont, he moved his wife and 2 infant boys, Clint and Carl, to Hendersonville in 1965.
Jim was a licensed auctioneer and realtor. He founded Jim Cassetty Realty in 1972 and successfully ran his small business in Hendersonville and Sumner County for 3 decades.
Jim was adored by his family and was heavily involved in serving his community. After closing the real estate business, Jim spent his later years serving others. He was active at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. His well lived life was full of helping those around him. He loved on people in many ways. One of his favorite pastimes was to operate his bulldozer or tractor, or trucks in service to others.
Jim enjoyed the beauty of Old Hickory Lake from his lakeside home. He also equally loved spending time in the hills and valleys of his Jackson County farms.
Jim is preceded in death by his son Carl Parker Cassetty, his parents and his brother Billy Jay Cassetty. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Cassetty; children Clint (Gretchen) Cassetty, daughter-in-law Kim Cassetty; sister Sue Cherry. In addition, he is survived by 5 grandchildren; Lauren (Matthew) Brown, Will (Barb) Cassetty, Ellen (Copeland) Petitfils, Caroline Cassetty, Kiersten (Adam) Castro, and 3 great-grandchildren, Baylor Castro, Rebecca Castro and Parker Brown, and numerous nieces, nephews and extend family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Peer Place or Feed Sumner in care of Hendersonville First Baptist Church 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd. Hendersonville, TN 37075
