Jewel L. Holman 82, passed away in her home on August 11, 2017. She was born February 27, 1935 in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains on the outskirts of the small Missouri town of Doniphan. She was one of five children born to Harold Barney and Mabel Lessie Lawhon. She moved with her family to Sunnyvale, CA. during WWII. After the war, the family moved to Hendersonville, TN where Jewel married and raised 5 children.

Jewel worked as the kitchen manager at Hendersonville Hospital for 18 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville since its beginnings, and worked as the Wednesday night supper coordinator for eight years. She volunteered in Mother's Day Out and other children's ministry activities. She also went on several mission trips with the church. In her later years, she enjoyed attending her Sunday School class.

Jewel was an extraordinary homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, crochet, gardening, and all kinds of arts and crafts. She enjoyed entertaining her family for holiday gatherings. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and almost always had one or two of them in her care.

Jewel was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy C. Holman and Harold D. Hackett, a son, Jeffrey Harold Hackett, and a grandson, Scott Timothy Satterfield.
Surviving are three daughters, Regina Sue Satterfield (Larry), Lora Lynn Jones, (Duke), Rhonda Fay Bagwell (Tim); one son, Keith DeWitt Hackett (Beth), two sisters, Rena Woodard, (Jack, deceased), Lola Finn, Bill Lawhon (Pat), Kenny Lawhon, (Tracy).
Also surviving are five grandchildren: Julie Glynn, Joey McBroom, Carrie Rich,Ryan Hackett, Lindsey Satterfield, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 16, 4 - 8 pm and Thursday, August 17, 1 - 3 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Life Celebration Service will follow visitation on Thursday at 3 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Preschool Ministry at Hendersonville First Baptist Church.
