Jewel DeGrood age 93 of Hendersonville, TN. passed away on Saturday October 5th 2019. Funeral services for Jewel will be held on Saturday October 12th 2019 at 12:30PM in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens Garden of Cross. Visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Saturday October 12th, 2019 from 10:00AM until 12:30PM Service time.

Jewel was born in Hermitage, TN on March 4th, 1926 to the late Bill & Emma Lawson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Frank, her brothers Noah, Harold and Billy Lawson.

She is survived by her son Frank & (Kay) DeGrood and daughter Terri & (Joe) Wilder. Grandchildren, Kyle & Micah DeGrood and Alexis Wilder.
Jewel met the love of her life Frank DeGrood in downtown Nashville and married him 3 months later. They were married for 64 years before his passing in 2009. In her early 20's she worked for Bell South as a switchboard operator and then later for Dupont making parachutes for the soldiers serving in WWII.
Jewel was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN.

She loved sitting in the lobby where she lived and talking with friends & neighbors and going to the monthly pot lucks, bible studies and other community events.
She loved Jesus, her family & friends and often said that she had a good life and had been blessed to have lived as long as she did.

Jewel was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was and still will be our inspiration to enjoy life and live to the fullest.
