Jessie Barton

December 4, 1936 — March 30, 2023

Jessie Carole Smith Barton, 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, died peacefully on March 30, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family.  The Glasgow, Kentucky, native was the daughter of the late Elaine and Harold Farris.

Jessie radiated love to all she met and came to know.  Her greatest joys in life came from her children and their families, as well as her beloved extended family members and dear friends.  She is survived by her children Kathy Anderson (David Malloy), Kelly Smith (Trish), Jason Smith (Samantha); her grandchildren, Elliott and Asher Anderson, Nealie and Jesse Smith, Milan Smith Hall (Ashton), Jared Smith; and her great-granddaughter Charlie Hall.   Jessie was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Robert L. Smith, and her second husband, Fred Barton, the two loves of her life, and her sister and brother-in-law Sarah and David Jordan.

Jessie retired from her career as a mortgage banker with SunTrust Bank, but her true passion was time spent with family, friends, and time spent in helping others.  She was a frequent volunteer, a mother figure to many, and a listening ear and voice of encouragement.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075, with a memorial service immediately following visitation.  Burial and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, 303 Leslie Avenue, Glasgow, KY 42141.
