Janet Thomason

Janet Rose Lee Thomason, age 76 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on August 19, 2023. Janet loved her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ and was an active member of Metro Baptist Church, where she regularly served by taking care of the young children. Janet worked for 29 years as the Director of Circulation and Building Services at the Jean & Alexander Heard Library of Vanderbilt University. She was an avid Bridge player and received great joy from making friends as she taught others how to play Bridge with her. Janet loved to cook and regularly showed love to her family, friends, and neighbors by providing food or hosting a gathering. Janet was most proud of her precious family, always taking every opportunity to spend time with her sons and grandchildren, buy them gifts, send a card, or enjoy a facetime conversation. She and her husband Jim built a legacy of faith and love that her family is striving to continue. Her feisty personality, strength, and deep love for people will be missed.  

She is survived by her sons, Alan N. Thomason, of Cary, NC, Eric L. (Kelli) Thomason, of Independence, KY; brother, J. Steven (Dede) Lee, of Selma, NC, and sisters, Frances (Stan) Moore, of Raleigh, NC, and Dianne Creech, of Clayton, NC, and four grandchildren, James (Whitney), Sean, Caroline, and Corban Thomason and her beloved dog and loyal companion, Winston. Janet is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jim E. Thomason, her parents James & Mildred Lee, and her grandson, Ian Josiah Thomason.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and Funeral services will be conducted immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at Metro Baptist Church, 322 E Cedar St., Goodlettsville, TN with Pastor Ryan Hill officiating.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Metro Baptist Church of Goodlettsville, TN, the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
