After graduating from Montrose High School in Montrose, Pennsylvania, Jane was one selected for a new pilot coop program by E.I. DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware with Goldey Beacom University for Academic degree high school graduates. Upon completion, Jane became a secretary in the Legal Department and then four years in the Textile Fibers Department Patent Division. She married Charles Joseph on May 16, 1964. Charles worked in sales for DuPont, and they lived in Indianapolis, IN, San Mateo, CA, Cincinnati, OH, and Wilmington, DE. Jane spent a year in the Purchasing Department and then 12 years in Logistics managing the on-time rail delivery for the Ti02 business.
Jane retired from DuPont in 1999 and stayed busy being a volunteer with Hendersonville Medical Center, reading to the pre-K class at the Community Day Care, where single mothers are going back to school or working, and was very involved with the Special Riders therapeutic horseback riding program for mentally and physically challenged children and adults. Jane won the Frist Humanitarian Award for volunteer of the year at the HCA hospital and was nominee for the award two years later.
Traveling, the theater and symphony, walking 4 miles 4-5 days per week, singing in the church choir, reading, lunching and dining with wonderful friends, and enjoying the grandchildren kept her busy for many years.
