James Edward Wallace, 85, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday, May 9th, 2017. Born in Old Hickory, TN, James graduated Dupont High School with the class of 1950. He later attended MTSU and graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College. James retired as a supervisor from Pirelli Armstrong in 1992 after 32 years with the company. A diehard Ford man, he proudly retired and maintained a 1922 Model T. He enjoyed drives with his wife, Martha and particularly enjoyed their trips every fall to the Gatlinburg / Pidgeon Forge area. James was also known as an accomplished woodworker. He made canes and walking sticks which he often gave to those whom he thought might be in need of one. He was also adept at working on cars and trucks. Another interest of his was Origami. James was a member of Hendersonville Masonsonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dow and Effie (Mitchell) Wallace; and his brother, Joe Wallace. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Joan (Weatherspoon) Wallace; his children, James E. and Tammy Wallace, Jr. and Melinda Jo and Charles Pelham; and his grandson, Joseph Edward Wallace. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2pm to 8pm with a Masonic Evergreen Service at 7 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home and also from 9 to 10am Friday, May 12th. A Life Celebration Service will be held Friday at 10 am with burial at Hendersonville Memory Gardens to follow.
