James Vicino

James R. “Jim” Vicino, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side after losing the battle with cancer.  Jim was born on July 25, 1944, to James DiVicino and Mary Nacelli DiVicino in Evergreen Park, Illinois.

Jim was a man of many talents who could always be found in the garage fixing anything broken, while doing it with ease.  He enjoyed painting and working on cars, and teaching his children how to work on their own.  He loved helping his grandchildren with their math homework, and playing board/card games or solving puzzles.  He had an ornery sense of humor, a fun natured sarcasm, and the biggest heart, but was still quick to threaten the boyfriends when necessary.  Jim always found time to help others in need whether it be his family or a neighbor.  You could always count on him to keep the telemarketers on their toes as well.   But most importantly, Jim was a strong man, loving husband, phenomenal father/pops, and friend to everyone.  On top of that, he was a proud “G-PA” to his grandchildren.  Jim provided the perfect blueprint for how to raise a family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents James and Mary DiVicino, and sister Mary Garty.  He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Theresa Vicino, his children Dan (Sally) Vicino, Tom (Nancie) Vicino, Rachael (Brandon) Prince, Michelle Garnett, and Jay (Sarah) Vicino; 12 grandchildren; Anthony, Timothy, Veronica, Tony, Danny, Alex, Devon, Brooke, Ayden, Mikey, Penny, and Eleanor.  In addition, he is survived by his sister Barbara Barnabee, brother Phillip Vicino, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 4pm-7pm.  A funeral service will begin at 11am in the Chapel at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10am. Entombment to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
