James "Jim" Stahr
Jim passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 after an unexpected illness.
Born in York, Nebraska on November 16th, 1934 to the late Ralph and Mildred Stahr, Jim was one of six children. During his professional career Jim worked in the wholesale plumbing and heating industry. Jim was a Veteran of the armed forces serving six years in the Army, National Guard, and Reserves. Outside of the work place Jim loved to spend time with his family and friends; traveling to visit his children, golfing, fishing, going to church, participating in the Men's Club, and helping others. He was good with his hands and could fix just about anything; always willing to offer his help and expertise.
Jim loved to tell his children stories of his early years with his family; the many places they had lived and the adventures they had shared. Jim was active with the Boy Scouts of America, starting as a volunteer in his son's Cub Scout Pack and ending up as the Pack Master/district leader. He was also involved with his son's little league baseball team starting out as an assistant coach and finishing up as the league president; applying his administration skills to bring about many long-lasting improvements.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends. When recalling Jim's legacy, the words helpful, steadfast, supportive, firm, quiet friendship and loyal with a dry sense of humor come to mind. Jim was a special kind of man; he helped without needing to be asked. He was always smiling, with an out stretched hand and shared his God given talents freely.
The members of St. Joseph of Arimathea welcomed Jim and Adena into their church in 1999. The many friends they made there quickly became their second family. Jim enjoyed having dinner with the Friday night bunch and being a part of the Men's Club. While he liked working the "Chicken Dinner" fund raiser and the concession stand for the Predator games he mostly enjoyed the comradery. Jim was known for his selfless acts of fellowship and was awarded the Paul Harwell Award in 2004.
He is preceded in death by his wife Adena of fifty-seven years, parents, and siblings. Jim leaves behind daughters Terri (Jim) Aylward and Cindy (John) Miller; sons, Barry (Bonnie) Stahr and Scott Stahr; grandchildren, Kat, Heather and Jason; great-grandson, Parker; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, August 11th, 2017 beginning with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church, 103 Country Club Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church. Please be sure to indicate Jim Stahr in the memo line and mail them to the previously mentioned address.
