James C. "Jim" Thompson- age 83 passed away July 3, 2015.
As a young man Jim served as a Sergeant in the 176th Armored Field Artillery Battalion Unit in Korea 1952. He always took great pride in serving his country, and he volunteered to fight on the frontlines in order to help his family at home with the money he earned. Throughout his life he was a man of faith. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville.
When remembering Jim the words athletic, devoted, fun loving, protective and patriotic come to mind. He loved life and enjoyed many hobbies. Some of the interests that were dearest to him were, Horse Racing, NASCAR, Casino's, traveling, and collecting coins. If you ever asked Jim where he would like to go he would answer Daytona Beach, Panama City, Dueling Grounds, Church, or a family gathering. He was a great man that touched the lives of many. He was molded and influenced by many people throughout his life but some of the people who come to mind are Michael Davis, Ben Turner, Aaron Allison, Bruce Yates and his loving wife Carol Thompson.
Jim lived his life with honor and reverence to the flag and his country. He loved his family and was very proud of each and every one of them.
Survived by his loving wife, Carol H. Thompson; 3 stepchildren, Kathleen H. Grindstaff of Louisville, KY, Sandy Hall Stowers of Mt. Juilet, TN, and Bobby Joe Crowder of Greenwood, Indiana; brother, Billy D. Thompson of Camden, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Hendersonville, TN or Friends of Sumner Regional (High Point Hospice) PO Box 1558 Gallatin, TN 37066.
