James O. Bagwell-age 82 passed away October 15, 2015.
James was born on October 14, 1933 in Monterey, Tennessee. He grew up in Murfreesboro, graduating from Central High School in 1951 and from Middle Tennessee State College (now known as MTSU) in 1955. After graduating he served our country proudly in the United States Army. During his working years he was employed by Life & Casualty Insurance Company for more than 20 years and then worked for the State of Tennessee until his retirement.
When remembering James some of the first things that come to mind are his love of family, classic cars, Dr. Pepper, playing dominos and cards, and singing in the choir. His love of nature was multi-faceted; he enjoyed watching birds, deer and other wildlife come to his yard in search of the food that he diligently provided for them. He loved a good hike (especially when it led to a scenic waterfall) and some of his favorite trips were family visits to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
James was well known as a kind, friendly man with a ready smile and a hearty laugh. He treated everyone he encountered with politeness and respect. His devotion to his wife Nena was total; after she passed away in 2001, he married Pat and loved her just as much. Without hesitation he embraced her children and extended family as his own.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nena Miles Bagwell; parents, Horace Ray and Clara May Reed Bagwell and sister, Rayola Bagwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Pat Bagwell; sons, Tom Bagwell (Michelle), James M. Bagwell (Jennifer) and Tim Bagwell (Amy); step-daughters, Molly Brislin, Amy DiGiulio and Debbie Oliver (Lester); grandchildren Ethan, Anna, Evan and Eli Bagwell; sister, Nancy Nicholson and brother, Sam Bagwell.
