Age 85 of Hendersonville, TN passed away on November 5, 2015.
Jack was born on Friday, December 13, 1929 in Old Hickory, TN to Ernest and Flora Howell Hopper. He was raised in Mt. Juliet, TN, and attended Mt. Juliet High School, where he played football and was All-City his freshman year. He was a man of wisdom, wit, strength, and character. He leaves a legacy as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
On June 18, 1948 he married his high school sweetheart, Frances McCormick, and they were happily married for 67 years. They have lived in Hendersonville since 1962. Jack retired with DuPont with 37 years of dedicated service, and was owner of Hopper Drywall Company for 20 years. After retirement, he and Frances traveled and spent the winters in Okeechobee, FL, where he spent many hours fishing. He loved to share his many fish, having fish fries for family and neighbors. He enjoyed raising a garden and sharing his vegetables with family and friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Grover, Tom, Cecil, and Eugene Hopper.
He is survived by the love of his life, Frances; sons, Steve (Pam), Ron (Jayne), Bart (Cathy); nine grandchildren, Ronnie Lynn (Lindsay), William (Amber), Jennifer (Eric), Wade, Shannon, Justin, Melissa (Brian), Alex (Travis), Ashton (Michael); and twelve great-grandchildren.
Grandsons Ronnie Lynn, William, Justin, Eric, Brian, and sons, Steve, Ron, and Bart will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Denny Kilpatrick and Ed Sutton.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Service will follow the visitation on Monday at 11 a.m. All services will be held at the funeral home.
