Irene "Rene" Woodward- age 76 of Hendersonville, TN passed away May 11, 2017. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Charles "Charlie" Woodward; children, Lisa W. Merwin (D. Fell), Craig E. Woodward (Timi), Lynne Hollingsworth (Greg) and Cheryl Woodward (Lynnette Roeth); grandchildren, Sarah K. Merwin, John D. Merwin, Asa Woodward, Charley Woodward, Emily Hollingsworth, Sam Hollingsworth, Eli Woodward Roeth and Daxton Woodward Roeth.
Rene was a loyal, loving, generous, and trustworthy soul who dedicated her time to her family, faith, and the service to others.
She loved socializing with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends and family will remember Rene by her spitfire and spunky personality. Rene could be found actively participating in several service organizations and volunteering at the church. In her spare time she enjoyed reading or vacationing at the beach. Rene began her community service early in life as a Girl Scout. As time went on, she was honored as ‘Woman of the Year', by the Women's Club, and ‘Samaritan Volunteer of the Year', by the Samaritan's Center; where she served on the Board of Directors and as President. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and greeter at Our Lady of the Lake.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with inurnment to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held prior to Mass from 11am-1pm at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to GFWC Women's Club of Hendersonville (P.O.
