Ilse will be remembered as outgoing, friendly, and headstrong. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling and visited the United States several times from her native land of Germany. Though she didn't have a favorite port of call, she liked vacationing aboard cruise ships. She was an avid Bingo player who enjoyed going to play with her sister. Occasionally, she even enjoyed winnings from her bingo adventures. Her favorite television show was the action-packed "Walker Texas Ranger."
Though Ilse had no children of her own, she had an impeccable motherly instinct. Her nourishing and caring presence was felt especially by Alan, Daniel, Dominic, Peter, and Harri. In fact, as her nephews were growing up she would host their visits to Germany each summer. It was these cherished times when life-long relationships were forged. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy for the love she showed to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Georg and Rosa Katharina Ziegler; sister, Edith Johanna Elisabeth Ziegler; brother, Helmut Karl Heinrich Ziegler; sister-in-law, Edith Ziegler; nephew, Harri Ziegler; and loving husband of forty-plus years, Hans Paul Rost.
Ilse is survived by her brothers, Alois Jakob Georg Ziegler, Adolf (Dagmar) Ziegler; sister, Hildegard Ziegler Johnson; niece, Karin (Ed) McDade; nephews, Alan (Deanna) Johnson, Peter (Ruth) Ziegler; treasured friends, Heidi, Miros (Mira) Maletin, and Daniel Maletin, who was like a son to Ilse.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Ilse's Life will follow visitation on Monday at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at the funeral home.
