Hubert "Hugh" Lee Allen Jr., age 64, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Madison, TN. Hugh was born in McMinnville, TN. He was the son of the late Hubert Lee Allen Sr. and Nancy Lassiter Allen. Hugh is survived by his sister Kym Allen Monroe; niece Mia L. Walker and nephew Adam David Allen Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Kriss Allen Walker Wells.
A celebration of a meaningful life for Hugh will be at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 12pm with Shayne Etheridge officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the start of the service.
Throughout Mr. Allen's life he had several favorite places he truly enjoyed like Tennessee, Alabama, Fort Lauderdale, San Francisco, and 5th Quarter. Hugh was generous, compassionate, supportive, thoughtful and charismatic to all who knew him. He enjoyed cooking and eating. Some of his very favorites were steak, Coca-Cola and of course chocolate. Hugh had many influential people in his life, such as, his parents, grandparents, siblings, niece and nephew, cousins and all the friends he made through the years. Family and friends meant everything to Hugh. He enjoyed cookouts, karaoke, bowling, movies, and holidays with them. He had a great love and talent for music. He was a fan of Elvis, The Eagles and The Beatles to name a few. He was an on air disc jockey at 1010 WHIN after attending the Nashville Broadcasting School and then spent many years as the disc jockey at the Eleventh Frame in Hendersonville, TN.
He also owned and operated "Hugh Baby's". He was a talented singer and loved to entertain others. Hugh also had a passion for sports of all kinds but especially football. Some hobbies Hugh loved were bowling, art, reading autobiographies and making others laugh. Hugh will truly be missed by his family and friends. He has left behind a legacy of how to enjoy the simple things in life. He was an example to his family about being kind, loving and always thinking of others.
