Herman O. Carlton, Jr., of Madison, TN, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was born January 9, 1923 in Nashville, TN. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Letha Peeler Carlton.
Mr. Carlton is survived by his son, Herman O. Carlton III, daughter-in-law, Myra; two granddaughters, Rachel Carlton Brown and Rebekah Carlton Christie (Mike); three great-grandchildren, Luke and Abigail Brown, and Ethan Christie, his brother, Floyd Carlton, and special friend, Maxine Wiggs.
Mr. Carlton was a 32nd Degree Mason and served in World War II as a U.S. Army Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. He was a longtime member of the Neely's Bend Church of Christ.
A life celebration for Mr. Carlton will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 E. Main St., on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Norman Slate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Mr. Carlton's nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
