Harold D. Hackett, age 89, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on April 22, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Pearl Hackett (Greene), son, Jeffrey H. Hackett, sister, Robbie Templeton, nephew, Gary Brummit and grandson, Scott Satterfield.

Harold is survived by his children; Gina Satterfield (Larry), Lori Jones (Duke), Rhonda Bagwell (Tim) and Keith D. Hackett (Beth), grandchildren; Julie Glynn (Matthew), Lindsey Satterfield, Joey McBroom, Carrie Rich, J. Ryan Hackett, Jonathan Hackett, Nathan Hackett and Jason Hackett. Harold is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, his Border Collie "Pup", along with many other relatives and friends.

Harold was born April 11, 1927 in Monoville, TN. He was a United States Navy veteran who served during WWII in Okinawa and witnessed the flag raising at Iwo Jima. He served on the USS Starr, delivering munitions and landing Marines. Harold celebrated his 18th birthday during the battle of Okinawa. He was a Master Carpenter and enjoyed camping, reading, and Atlanta Braves baseball. Harold was a patriotic man, who taught American flag etiquette to his family, expected a lot from his children, was non-judgmental, and was always willing to help those in need. Through the years, he provided guidance to many in the Nashville area. Harold was a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville and Hendersonville VFW Post 9851.

Life Celebration for Harold will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 E. Main St. in Hendersonville on Wednesday, April 27th at 3:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Bruce Chesser. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Burial and Mililtary Honors to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
