Gloria Lou Wales

Gloria Lou Wales, age 91, passed away on August 16, 2023 in Hendersonville, TN after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.  

Gloria was born on September 10, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio.  She lead a full and active life with her husband, Jack.  Jack's successful career relocated them from Ohio to Wisconsin to Seattle to Pittsburgh.  Jack and Gloria retired to Hilton Head, SC and later moved to Hendersonville to be closer to family.  Gloria was a strong and confident woman.  She adapted quickly and immersed herself in volunteer activities in her church and community.  Gloria was most proud of her children and devoted herself to nurturing and being the best long-distance mother and grandmother possible.  Gloria loved to cook and host family and friends on special occasions.  Her infectious laugh, butterfly kisses, expressions of love, and "Thank you, dear" will be greatly missed.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jack; her daughters, Debra (Carl) Norton and Linda (Mike) Eagley, both of Hendersonville, TN; three grandchildren, LaShell Eagley, of Goodlettsville, Melissa Fultz (Cody), of Granite Bay, CA, Caitlin Foxhoven (Patrick) of Chicago, IL; and 4 great-grandchildren, Nathan DiPonziano Zamora, Cameron and Sedona Fultz, and Ford Foxhoven.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Esther Haller Mannick and Owen Mannick; her son, William "Bill" Wales; and her grandson, Ian DiPonziano.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Gloria's honor.
