Gerald R.”Gerry” Bailey of Hendersonville, TN departed this life suddenly on January 2, 2025 after very brief illness. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, where he spent most of his early years in Hamilton and Fairfield, Ohio. He later moved to TN in adulthood and spent the majority of his life in Tennessee. Before retirement he spent his career in the Social Services industry, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Middle TN State University with graduate work at Trevecca Nazarene University. Gerry knew the Lord and read His word daily and was a member of Long Hollow Church in Hendersonville. He was an avid sports fan, in particular college football, especially the Tennessee Volunteers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed NC Tarheels and KY Wildcats basketball. He also enjoyed classic rock as well as most types of music as well as history and reading.
He is survived by his spouse, Nicie Bailey, and son, Drew (Caroline) Bailey as well as his daughter, M. Jacqueline Bailey along with his three grandchildren, Hudson, Adeline and Samuel Bailey. In addition he is survived by his siblings Rick (Luanne) Bailey and Jeff (Kristy) Bailey and brother-in-law, James Gray, sister-in-law, Sheila (Dave) Brown and brother-in-law, David (Liz) Gibson, along with several nieces and nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Wilma (Neil) Payne and his father, Charles Bailey as well as recently his sister, Cheryl Gray.
Rev. Dave Brown will officiate a private service for immediate family only to be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, in Hendersonville, TN. Interment will follow in the Mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by Hendersonville Memory Garden & Funeral Home in Hendersonville, TN.
Donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Deer Run Retreat Center.
The family would like to express their sincere thankfulness and appreciation to the paramedics and hospital staff that rendered aid to him at the end of his life. Most importantly we want to acknowledge and give thanks for his beloved brother, Rick, that was there with him and rendered loving aid and tenderness in the last moments of his life on this earth. We know he is at peace and is made whole again in the arms of his Lord.
