MORGAN, George Joe – Gallatin, TN, formerly of Stollings, WV, passed away April 2, 2012 at the home of his son in Hendersonville, TN from complications due to dementia. Mr. Morgan was born January 30, 1923 in Thomaston, AL. He is the son of the late Marion Council and Mary Lou Green Morgan. Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Browning Morgan; grandson, Michael Todd Morgan; brothers Mike, Mat and John Morgan; sisters, Sara Algood and Rena Morgan. He is survived by brothers, Jim, of Lake Village, AR, Ike, of Little Rock, AR, Morris, of Bryant, AR, Will and Jud of Greenbrier, AR; one daughter, Brenda Noel Napier of Stollings, WV; two sons, Danny Carmel Morgan of Brunswick, OH and Roderick Rosie Morgan of Hendersonville, TN; seven grandchildren, Michelle Peacock, Nikki L. Morgan, Roderick H. Morgan, Danny J. Morgan, Jr., Joshua Michael Morgan, Ashleigh Lyn Schneider, Gavin Napier; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Morgan was a member of Station Camp Creek Baptist Church in Gallatin, TN and a retired mechanic for Amherst Coal Co. at Slagle. He was past president of the Local 5958 UMWA and proudly served in the Navy in World War II. Funeral Services for Mr. Morgan will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Evans Funeral Home, 334 Crawling Creek Rd., Chapmanville, WV. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and 1 hour prior to service time. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Chapmanville, WV. HENDERSONVILLE FUNERAL HOME 615 824-3855.
