George W. Ferguson, age 85, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. He was born in Grassy, AL on February 22, 1937, and grew up in Five Points, Tennessee.
George was a self-made man who embraced music his entire life. He played many instruments from the acoustic guitar to the mandolin. He had a love for golf and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and John Wayne movies.
George was in the US Army Reserve, The National Guard, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, A Shriner and was a member of the UAW Local 737. He was an electrician at Ford Glass Plant until becoming the first UAW coordinator for the UAW/Ford employee involvement program. He worked closely with the Governor Ned Ray McWherter administration developing the Tennessee Labor Management Program and was known throughout the automotive industry for his improving labor/management relations.
George was a faithful member of Long Hollow Baptist Church and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
George is survived by his loving wife Loma of 42 years, son Tim, daughter Lisa, step-daughter Kristine, grandchildren Luke, Georgia (Josh), Jessica, and Raleigh (Luke), 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends through work, church and music. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 1-3pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 3pm.
