Gary Ward Wilson of Gallatin, TN passed from this life and into the hands of our Savior on Monday, September 19, 2022.
He was born in Livingston, TN on February 24, 1949, to the late C.G. Wilson and Betty Jean Draper, both of Gainsboro, TN. Being an only child and from a small family, Gary had only a few cousins but they were close and dearly loved.
Gary was raised in middle TN and was a graduate of Hendersonville High School. Upon graduation, he attended Middle TN State University. For 7 years, during his undergraduate and pharmacy school years, he served as an Airman in the Air National Guard. He completed his Doctorate of Pharmacy (DPh) from the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
For over 40 years, he was the owner and primary pharmacist of Pleasant View Pharmacy. He adored the Pleasant View community and they adored him in return. Gary enjoyed spending his free time playing golf and fishing. He was also an excellent wood-worker and enjoyed time in front of his saw making trinkets and gifts for others. Gary had a big humanitarian heart and was quick to provide help to those in need or those who were struggling. His friends and family enjoyed his red-faced chuckle and his belly laugh.
Gary was loved and admired by many. He was married for 38 years to his high school sweetheart, Karen Warren Wilson and, together, they had two children, Brannan (Michael) Moreland and Josh (Abby) Wilson. In 2011, he married Connie Berry Hughey of Gallatin, TN and became the step-father to her girls, Haley (Chris) Feck, DeAnne (Jonathan) Beaty, and Beth (Alex) Scruggs. In all, Gary had 14 grandchildren: Michael (Madi) Moreland, Grace (Brandon) Drummer, Emily (Andrew) Neuman, Mason Moreland, Miller Moreland, Taylor Wilson, Ryann Wilson, Jessica (Devin) Stufflebean, Alison Feck, Hunter Beaty, Harrison Beaty, Elsie Kate Scruggs, Ander Scruggs, and Hinson Scruggs. He became a great-grand father five years ago with the birth of his first grandson, Drew Beard. In the last year, he added to his loved ones with the birth of two precious baby girls: Millie Rae Moreland and Willow-Grace Drummer. Holidays, vacations and all family events were filled with many voices, much laughter and a few ear-piercing squeals.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, C.G. and Betty; his best friend of nearly 60 years, David Randall Bridge; and his faithful furry friend, Major. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Connie, and all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
