Mrs. Gailya Estes Charlton, age 86, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on June 16, 2016. Gailya was the daughter of the late Robert Porter Estes and Lena Crowell Estes of Nashville, both of whom predeceased her. Gailya was born on August 16, 1929, in Nashville. She attended school in Nashville and was voted the "friendliest girl" while attending East High School. After high school, she attended Peabody College & Vanderbilt University. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Charlton, of Hendersonville. She is survived by children Rebecca Charlton of Hendersonville and Drew (Cindy) Charlton of Nashville and granddaughter Mary Kathryn Charlton of Nashville. She was a longtime member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church where she was the founder of the Love and Concern Group. Visitation will be at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 11-1 and from 4-6. The funeral will be on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with visitation there one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Love and Concern Group at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.
