Mr. Fred S. Morris, Jr., born in Nashville, TN on March 18, 1926, passed from this earth on July 27, 2017 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred S. Morris, Sr. and Margaret E. Morris; his wife of 53 years, Nina Meredith Goodlett Morris; his son, Robert "Rick" Morris and brother, Marshall Morris. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Jean Gleaves, and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Covington and Bobby Sue Hastings. He is also survived by his daughter, Dorothy Katherine Brown (Tyler); his grandchildren: Taren Brown Keebler (Isaac), Tyler "T.J." Brown, Skyler Brown, Courtney Pavey (Matt), Lindsay Morris; great-grandchildren, Angel Curtsinger, Robert Curtsinger and Nathan Curtsinger, along with two great-great-grandchildren, Grayson McChord Dean and Chloe Mae Curtsinger.

Fred served our country in World War II in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He worked in Sales and Finance for more than 40 years. He was devoted to his family. He and Nina enjoyed traveling and camping with the grandchildren and watching them play soccer, football, baseball, and basketball.

He graduated from East High School in 1946, having played all sports offered there. Fred was one of Nashville's most-celebrated Fast Pitch Softball pitchers for over 30 years. He was inducted into Nashville's Old Timers Hall of Fame and the Tennessee ASA Hall of Fame. Fred was also an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and simply loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Hendersonville United Methodist Church.

Fred designated his honorary pallbearers himself: the Wright Photo Softball Team, James Tignor, Gene Harper, Hale Harris, Bobby Turner, Bill Anderton, Craig Fox, John Henderson, and Pete Bennett. Active pallbearers will be Richard Henry, Robert Covington, Tyler Brown, T.J. Brown, Isaac Keebler, Robert Curtsinger, Mike Hastings, and Don Gleaves.

A public time of visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 with additional hours to receive family and friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, followed by a funeral service, presided by the Reverend Gerald Noffsinger at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow the ceremonies at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
