Frank Joseph Wendling Jr., age 81 of Surprise, AZ passed on November 21, 2018 with longtime friend Kay Jeffers at his side. He was born on September 24, 1937 in Chicago Illinois to the late Frank Sr. and Minnie Wilson Wendling. He was preceded in death by his wife Joslyn Dunwoody Wendling and one brother, Ken Wendling. Frank was survived by three siblings; sisters Judy and Barbara along with brother William (Billy) Wendling: all of the greater Chicago, IL. area. He is also survived by two sons, Karl Wendling (Atlanta GA) and Todd Wendling (Hendersonville, TN) along with two grandchildren, Emma Kate (Hendersonville, TN) and Mary Todd Wendling (Starkville MS, Mississippi State University)
Frank earned a BS Degree from Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL and shortly thereafter served his country in the Army. He was a conservative and loyal patriot. He then began work in account management with InterChem/Inmont, surviving his entire 35 year career under three parent corporations: United Technologies, BASF and finally PPG. He was afforded the opportunity for much travel during his career and in the end became known as the Puerto Rican ambassador. During his career, Frank and his family resided in the greater Chicago suburbs, Morganton, NC, Clifton, NJ, Ft. Wayne, IN, Virginia Beach, VA and Atlanta, GA. Frank retired in Surprise Arizona.
Frank enjoyed the outdoors: he was an avid sportsman and lifetime NRA member. He loved wildlife and nature. Frank was also a great athlete who enjoyed competition at high levels, regardless of the sport. Frank was a proud Scotsman, who also enjoyed American History. He was a great father, husband and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 30, 2018, at 4:00 P.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home with Jay Edgerton officiating.
