Floyd Edward Sanders, Sr.

Floyd Edward Sanders, Sr., age 89, passed away on August 31, 2024. Floyd was born to the late James C. Sanders and Addie Leona Proffitt Sanders in Elmwood, Tennessee on October 29, 1934.

Following the early death of his mother on February 9, 1943 at the age of 48 when Mr. Sanders was 8 years old, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Esker Leslie Proffitt and Eliza Ethel Grisham Proffitt. He had three siblings, Leslie Proffitt, Edward Proffitt, and Joyce Proffitt Walters.

Floyd graduated from Smith County High School.

Floyd retired from Pirelli Tire in 1994.

He loved the Lord and was a member of Hendersonville Church of the Nazarene.

Floyd was an avid golfer and he loved to play golf. Floyd was known to never meet a stranger. Most of all, Floyd loved his wife of 67 years, Betty, and his family.

In addition to his parents, Floyd is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Sanders; and his brother, James Albert Sanders.

Floyd is survived by his sons, Floyd E. Sanders, Jr. (Mitzi) and Timothy D. Sanders (Sheila); his grandchildren, Amber Cornell (Richard), Jamie Sanders (Lesley Harper), Jacob Sanders (Heather Keyes), Casey Brewster (Anastasia), Aaron Brewster (Michele), and Brett Brewster (Kayla); and his great grandchildren, Wynter Cornell, Spencer Harp, Ava Sanders, Norah Sanders, Aiden Brewster, Breanna Brewster, Seth Ferguson, Levi Ferguson, Melania Brewster, Fiona Brewster, Anthony Brewster, Jackson Brewster, Coen Overby, Jordan Brewster.

Visitation for Mr. Sanders will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). The funeral service for Mr. Sanders will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075) with the burial to follow.

Pallbearers will be Scott Howard, Jamie Sanders, Jacob Sanders, Brett Brewster, Michael Walters, and Spencer Harp. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Sanders, Wayne Sanders, Flipper Gregory, Richard Enoch, Richard Cornell.
