Elsie Nickoloff

Elsie Bierbower Nickoloff, born July 27, 1925 in Nyack, NY, passed away at the age of 92 on July 27, 2017 in Hendersonville, TN. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Nick E. Nickoloff and parents; Howard J. Bierbower and Mary McKee Bierbower. Survived by her children; Jane Engler (Jeffrey), John Nickoloff (Jane) and Skip Nickoloff (Julie), granddaughters; Melissa French (Mark), Melinda Patterson (Anthony), Megan Thompson (Daniel Balsbaugh), Emily Nickoloff and Lauren Nickoloff, great-grandchildren; Michael, Jack, Mallory, Bentley, Zayne, Cash and Myla. Elsie is also survived by her sister, Margaret Love, sisters-in-law; Mary Nickoloff and Ellen Nickoloff, along with many other extended family and friends.

Elsie was a registered nurse, graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She was the head nurse at Doubleday & Co. for over 25 years. Elsie was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Hempstead, NY for 65 years. She was an active member with the United Methodist Women, Hub-a-Wif, and many other committees. Elsie taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Elsie adored hiking the trails in Hawaii annually for 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

A viewing for Elsie will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 2pm-3pm.

A funeral service for Elsie will be held at The United Methodist Church of Hempstead, NY at a later date. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punch Bowl, Honolulu, HI.
