SNIDER, Elmer Ellis, Age 88, Nashville, October 30, 2009. Preceded in death by wife, Roni Snider. Survived by children, James Lisa Snider, LouAn Tillman, Kevin Denise Snider and Karli Carroll; grandchildren, Tiffanie Jeff Hand, James Marisa Snider, Sabrina Gary Clarke, Nick Snider, Heather Nick Snider, Jessica Brad Snider, Kevin "Bubba" Snider, Ellis Carroll; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Bailey and Kenzie Hand, Emma Ragan, Cayden Clarke. Born in Lafayette, TN, Elmer made West Nashville his home for 54 years. After his dedicated service in the United States Army, WWII, Philippines, he went to work at Aladdin Industries and remained 38 years. After retirement, he spent his time metal detecting, camping with Roni and the camping club and was very active as a life long member of the VFW Post 1970. Mr. Snider was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and a recipient of the Long Rifle Award and several other related awards. He was a great public servant and spent his life helping others in need through his church, Calvary Baptist and many other organizations including the Veterans Hospital, Nashville location. The funeral service will be at 1 pm, Monday, November 2, 2009 at West Harpeth Funeral Home. Pallbearers: James T. Snider, Nick Snider, Bubba Snider, Tony Sanders, Larry Hamsley, Timmy Hamsley and Gary Harper. Visitation, Sunday, 2-6 pm and Monday, 10 am until time of service at West Harpeth Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans Association, 1540 Perkins Rd, Puryear, TN 38251. Additionally, the family will hold a visitation at Alexander Funeral Home, 209 E. Locust St., Lafayette, TN, Tuesday, 10am- 1pm with burial services for Elmer and Roni immediately following at New Bethel Cemetery, Lafayette, TN.
