Age 85, peacefully passed away at her Hendersonville home November 21. Beloved by her family, Ellen was born March 14, 1930 in Sumner County to parents Miles Patrick and Nellie Rice. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold Rice, also of Sumner County.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Kemp; daughter, Patricia Cooper (Johnny); son, George Kemp Jr; grandchildren, Ashley Cooper Daily (Shaun), Christopher Cooper, George Kemp III (Jennifer), Alina and Danil Kemp and five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Pauline Gammon and Minnie Overton (Vance) and two brothers, William Rice (Carol) and DeWitt Rice (Betty).
Ellen began a banking career at Third National Bank in 1961 as a teller and worked her way up to Bank Manager of the Capitol Hill Branch and then manager of the South Madison Branch of Third National which became SunTrust Bank. She made many friends and acquaintances who admired her strength of character and fun loving spirit.
She immensely enjoyed entertaining in her home and was known by her family to be a great cook and home decorator.
A visitation will take place at Christ Church Cathedral at 900 Broadway Nashville, TN on Monday, November 23 from 3 p.m. until 5p.m. Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 5 p.m. All services will be held at the Church.
