Mr. Bruchas was born in Homestead, PA, on May 28, 1925, the son of the late John Bruchas and Elizabeth Estok Bruchas. He graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA earning his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Mr. Bruchas was a veteran in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and served his country proudly in the Pacific theatre. He was a member of the VFW Post 9851. He was a founder and parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where he was very active in the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Bruchas was a lover of people and never met a stranger. He thrived in all settings whether business, church, social or family. Ed was a salesman for his entire career in the areas of insurance, printing equipment and real estate. For many years he sold real estate in Hendersonville and used his industry contacts to establish the Hendersonville Real Estate Review. He was its publisher for 26 years, retiring at the age of 84 to pursue other interests.
Although Mr. Bruchas had a passion for his work, he had many other interests through which he enriched the lives of family and friends. His love of photography came through in his camera collection and the many pictures he took and shared with others. He was an artist who created paintings, photographs and sculptures he shared with loved ones. He enjoyed travel and instilled that love in his children and grandchildren as it always revolved around family and usually a beach somewhere.
Most of all, Mr. Bruchas was a dedicated lover of his family beginning with his wife of 67 years, Irene. They were an amazing team that always looked their best and lit up a room whenever they entered. Ed was an encourager who was able to see the possibilities in his children and grandchildren. He was dedicated to education and every grandchild can recite his saying - "The more you learn, the more you earn". He lived life to the fullest and one of his favorite expressions was "I love my life".
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bruchas was preceded in death by eight siblings. Survivors include his wife, Irene Czajkoski Bruchas, to whom he was married on May 3, 1952; five children, Eric Bruchas (Susan), Darlene Oliver (Jeffrey), Mark Bruchas (Linda), Pamela Polk (Alan), and Janet Sutton (Robert); fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
