CHAFFIN, Edna Lou Neblett "Puny"- passed away peaceably Monday, December 10, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some small way. Her gentle smile, tiny fingers and sweet sense of humor brought so much joy to everyone. Mrs. Chaffin was born November 21, 1922 in Palmyra, TN, the youngest of 13 children. She was preceded in death by parents, William Robert Lee Neblett and Annie Lou McCauley. Her grandmother, Ophelia Harper, was a Cherokee Indian, a distant cousin to "Pocahontas". She attended Clarksville High School and Austin Peay State University. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Asberry "John" Warden Chaffin; daughter, Sherry Einwag Don; sons, John Perry Chaffin Janie and Scotty Chaffin; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chaffin was an active member of Pasquo Church of Christ. With her husband, A.W. "John" Chaffin, they built the first professional dinner theatre in Nashville, "The Barn Dinner Theatre" now Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre. She also started the first child care center in Nashville, "The Play Pen". Although she was so tiny and petite, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She enjoyed traveling and reading. A life celebration service will be at 2pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Marc Jones officiating. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation, 4-8pm on Tuesday, and 11am-2pm on Wednesday at HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, 615 646-9292. www.afamilylegacy.com
